Tuesday, December 31 - Wednesday, January 1: New Year’s Holiday
Happy New Year! The museum will be closed.
Thursday, January 2: Wooden Snowman and Frozen
Join us in the ArtSpace to paint a wooden stand up snowman at 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. The workshops are limited to 20 children age 4 and up. Stick around to watch the movie “Frozen” at 1:30 p.m.
Friday, January 3: Wooden Snowflakes
Decorate a wooden snowflake in the Artspace from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Monday, January 6: Ceramic Birdhouses and Crafts
Paint a snowy ceramic birdhouse in the ArtSpace workshop. Classes begin at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. and are limited to 20 children, ages 4 and up. We will also have winter craft projects in the ArtSpace from 1:30-3 p.m.
Saturday, January 11: Sasol’s Second Saturday Science Show
Sasol continues its 5S Project with “Liquid Nitrogen” at 11:30 a.m. Presenters Kyle Brunner and Craig Mercy will have several hands-on demonstrations that involve freezing objects and pressure. Third floor exhibits will be closed during this program.
Monday, January 13: Toddler Play
Purple, Yellow and Green! Join us from 10:30-11 a.m. with your 1-4 year old. We will explore the colors of Mardi Gras and finger paint a king cake!
Monday, January 20: “Beautiful Together”
To remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we are making a collaborative piece, “Beautiful Together,” using our hands. Stop by the ArtSpace from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. to trace and decorate your handprint to add! It will be displayed in the museum when it is completed.
Monday, January 27: Tinker Tray Snowflakes and Homeschool Day
Join us in the ArtSpace from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. and make a snowflake using materials found in our tinker tray. If you are homeschooling, join us from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for a chance to interact with others doing the same. Admission is $6.50 per person for homeschooling families.
Tuesday, February 25: Mardi Gras
The museum will be closed for Mardi Gras!
Saturday, March 28: Bunny Hop 3k and Fun Run

The Children’s Museum provides a safe and educational place to explore, learn, play and imagine while encouraging curiosity and creativity through hands-on programs and exhibits. The Children's Museum is located at 327 Broad Street downtown Lake Charles. Museum hours are Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m. Admission is $9 for children and adults.
